06 Jul,2026
The 19th National Symposium on Ground Improvement was held in Guilin, Guangxi from July 3 to 5, 2026. Dong Baozhi, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of the Company, together with core technical staff Yu Yongtang and Cao Jingyuan from the Dynamic Compaction Joint R&D Center, attended the conference.
Co-organized by the School of Architecture and Transportation Engineering of Guilin University of Electronic Technology, the School of Civil Engineering of Guilin University of Technology, and the Center for Coastal and Urban Geotechnical Engineering of Zhejiang University, the symposium themed Frontier Technologies and Development of Ground Improvement Oriented to Resilience, Low Carbon and Intelligence. Centered on infrastructure resilience enhancement, dual-carbon strategy and intelligent construction, the event built a high-level national platform for academic exchange addressing new theories, technologies and challenges in ground improvement.
Over 600 domestic experts and scholars participated in the conference. It featured 21 invited plenary lectures, 11 parallel sessions and 121 session presentations. In-depth discussions covered analytical testing technologies for ground improvement, pile foundation and subgrade engineering practices, special ground treatment, as well as cutting-edge interdisciplinary technologies, boosting academic innovation, technical application and industrial integration in the sector.
An award ceremony for the 2nd Excellent Paper Award of Ground Improvement was held during the symposium. Our paper Effect Analysis of Direct Dynamic Compaction for Thick Collapsible Loess with Low Water Content, authored by the Dynamic Compaction Joint R&D Center, won the Excellent Paper Award. Dong Baozhi received the award on behalf of the authors.
Funded by the Gong Xiaonan Education Fund of Zhejiang University Education Foundation, this award targets papers published in the journal Ground Improvement between Issue 1, 2021 and Issue 3, 2025. Ten outstanding papers were selected via rigorous evaluation including editorial board nomination, on-site voting, citation and download statistics, enjoying high recognition across the industry.
In addition, Dong Baozhi, a committee member of the Ground Improvement Committee under the Chinese Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (CCES), attended the special committee meeting, at which Qinghai University was designated as the host of the 20th National Symposium on Ground Improvement.
The company’s attendance demonstrated its robust research strength and technical accumulation in ground improvement and dynamic compaction. Going forward, we will further deepen research in geotechnical engineering and ground improvement, focus on frontier fields including low-carbon development, intelligent construction and infrastructure resilience, promote industry-university-research integration, accelerate technical innovation and achievement transformation, and contribute to the high-quality development of the geotechnical engineering industry.
