The Spirit of JIN BAODAO Shines Forth Amid Storms

08 Jul,2025

Half of 2025 has already passed, and it has been nearly a month since I joined JIN BAODAO. Looking back on my work and life experiences in Baotou during this period, I have gained a great deal. Although I am not a graduate of an engineering major and have some previous work experience in the engineering field, the specialty of dynamic compaction is still an entirely new area for me, which made me feel somewhat uneasy before joining the company. Fortunately, before the company assigned me to a project, I received work-related knowledge training at the company headquarters. This gave me a preliminary understanding of the work related to the dynamic compaction specialty and also boosted my confidence a bit.

This is my first time visiting Baotou. My initial impression of the city is a blend of profound industrial heritage and vibrant vitality. Upon my arrival in Baotou, a light spring rain seemed to welcome me by cleansing the air. After getting off the train, Project Manager Liu Lujun drove me to the dormitory. On the way, after learning about my situation, Mr. Liu enthusiastically introduced me to the overview of the Xiguitu Project and the work I would be responsible for. He told me to feel free to reach out to him with any issues and emphasized the importance of safety multiple times. His warmth has filled me with motivation for the work ahead.

Dynamic compaction construction has strict requirements for meteorological conditions, and rain, in particular, has the greatest impact on soil. This rain hit the pause button on the intense construction work, giving me a chance to visit the project site in person after settling briefly in the dormitory. Han Hongyi drove me around the construction site, introducing the models of the compaction machines on-site and the areas we needed to carry out dynamic compaction on along the way. Since arriving in Baotou over 20 days ago, the weather has been extremely volatile. Severe weather like howling winds and torrential rains has struck every few days, causing the construction progress to fluctuate amid alternating spells of sunshine and rain. However, team members have always adhered to JIN BAODAO's belief in being "loyal" to the project, never slacking off even in the face of harsh weather.

After the rain, the sky cleared but left the site covered in mud, which caused no small trouble for the construction. However, Mr. Liu arranges everyone’s work for the next day in the work group every day, ensuring that the construction proceeds in an orderly manner. Under the guidance of seniors Zhou Zhijun and Han Hongyi, I started sorting out project materials—from on-site stakeout, construction records, image backups to the submission of daily safety reports. Faced with such a complex work system, an extra dose of rigor is all the more necessary. Their "dedication" to work is reflected in every data verification and every record improvement. Through their tacit cooperation, I also witnessed their proficient control over the project and the valuable experience accumulated over the years.

What touched me most was an experience one morning. Due to a temporary personnel adjustment the previous day, I got the chance to try my hand at the work of hanging and measuring. It happened to be a bright sunny day with occasional gentle breezes, and our work began amid the roar of the compactor. As the huge hammer smashed into the ground, clods of earth splashed several meters high, and I could feel the ground trembling beneath my feet. The power of this steel giant is something that can never be conveyed through screen images; the immersive experience also made me realize that safety is of paramount importance. In just one morning, my WeChat step count exceeded 20,000, and my work clothes were already soaked through with sweat. This firsthand experience of the hanging and measuring work gave me a deeper appreciation for the dedication of frontline workers—they interpret the true meaning of JIN BAODAO's "dedication" through their actions, as well as the cohesive unity of the entire team. I sincerely admire their daily struggle against time and the environment, which is filled with hardships.

The nearly one-month tempering at the Xiguitu Project has benefited me a great deal, and it has also made me realize that there is still much to learn in the days ahead—this serves as a driving force urging me to keep progressing. Through nearly a month of interactions, I’ve noticed that every member of the team has their own shining points. Mr. Liu’s "innovative" thinking when overseeing the overall situation always finds new breakthroughs when construction hits a snag; the frontline masters stick to their posts day in and day out, interpreting their "gratitude" to the enterprise with their sweat. These are all things worth learning from. I also hope that in future work, I can delve deeper into the professional field, integrate the JIN BAODAO spirit into every task, constantly enrich myself, and more excellently fulfill the mission entrusted to me by the company.
